What is 14.28mm 9/16 Harden Laminated Glass?
14.28mm 9/16” harden laminated glass also called 6+2.28+6mm fully tempered laminated glass for the hurricane, that combines two pieces of 1/4 fully toughened clear glass, uses 6 layers of PVB or 3-4 layers of SGP interlayer, which have a excellent safety performance and solar performance when used for windows or doors.
This glass is widely used for impact windows or doors in some bad weather areas, such as Eastern Australia, Eastern the US, and China, and we also have many thicknesses for choose, such as 4+4mm (5/16) laminated impact glass, 5+5mm (7/16) impact glass, 8+8mm(23/32) laminated glass, 10+10mm(7/8) laminated glass, etc… Want more info, you can contact our sales
What is the impact door and window?
The impact doors and windows, also known as hurricane or storm-resistant doors and windows, are specifically designed to withstand the extreme conditions of hurricanes, storms, and other severe weather events. They are typically made of reinforced materials such as heavy-duty aluminum, vinyl, or wood frames combined with impact-resistant glass – hardened laminated glass.
The glass used in impact doors and windows is usually harden laminated glass panel, meaning it consists of two or more panes of glass bonded together with a strong, clear interlayer. This interlayer helps the glass remain intact even if it shatters, preventing dangerous debris from entering a house or building during a storm.
In addition to providing protection against severe weather, impact doors and windows offer other benefits such as increased security, improved energy efficiency, and noise reduction. They are commonly used in areas prone to hurricanes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters, and they often meet strict building codes and regulations to ensure safety and durability.
Why choose 14.28mm 9/16 harden laminated glass?
Enhanced Safety: The thickness and laminated structure of 14.28mm glass make it highly resistant to breakage. If it does break, the laminated design ensures that the glass fragments remain adhered to the interlayer, reducing the risk of injury from sharp shards.
Impact Resistance: The 9/16″ hardened laminated glass is particularly effective in resisting impact from objects or force, making it a popular choice for impact doors and windows in areas vulnerable to hurricanes, storms, or other extreme weather conditions.

Sound Insulation: The thickness and laminated nature of this glass also offer excellent soundproofing capabilities, making it a good choice for environments where noise reduction is a priority, such as in busy urban areas or near highways.
UV Protection: Hardened Laminated glass can block a significant amount of harmful UV rays, protecting interiors from fading and reducing the exposure of occupants to UV radiation.
Compliance with Building Codes: In many regions, such as Miami, building codes require the use of impact-resistant or laminated glass for windows and doors in areas susceptible to hurricanes or high winds. The 14.28mm harden laminated glass often meets or exceeds these standards.

Test Report for 6+2.28+6mm impact glass
Remove all masking and protection material from the test pieces and condition for a minimum of 12 h at (20±5)℃ before test. Each specimen was positioned in the test frame and clamped.
The tests were followed the procedures specified by BS EN12600:2002. Each specimen was hit by a test impactor at drop heights of 190 mm, 450 mm and 1200mm. The procedures were repeated for the other three specimens.
Conclusion for the testing
An impact performance test for materials in accordance with BS EN12600:2002 has been performed on the four given sample from client as described in this report. The performance classification of the all test samples is Classification 1 (C) 1.
Above is the testing for 14.28mm Tempered Laminated Glass from the testing lab, which based on BS: EN 12600 passed four times impact, and there is no one piece of glass breakage.
